Zoning Application Workflow Information
- Variance and Conditional Use:
- Resident submits application.
- Zoning Secretary gathers information, sends notices, puts sign in yard at least 10 days prior to BZA meeting.
- Zoning Secretary prepares agenda, posts on website, and sends to BZA members.
- BZA meets to consider the case and provide an approval or denial of the application.
- Zoning Amendments (re-zoning requests, zoning text changes):
- Resident submits application.
- Zoning Secretary gathers information and prepares package to send to Miami County Planning Commission by their cut-off date.
- Zoning Secretary sends notices, puts sign in yard at least 10 days prior to the next ZC meeting following the Miami County Planning Commission meeting.
- Miami County Planning Commission meets to consider the case and make a recommendation to the ZC.
- ZC meets to consider the case and provide a recommendation to the Trustees.
- Not sooner than 10 days but not later than 30 days after the ZC meets, the Trustees hold a Public Hearing to allow residents to comment on the case. Typically at the same meeting, the Trustees will consider the case and provide an approval or denial.
- Thirty days after the vote, the approval or denial takes effect. During this thirty day window, a referendum may be submitted opposing the vote.
